"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" - Matthew 5:3
We are going over a series about poverty in the Junior High. I was thinking about what to talk about in the blog posting, and this verse came to mind. Without commentary, what do you think it means to be "poor in spirit"? There is no right or wrong answer; just in your own words what do YOU think it means to be poor in spirit?

I think it means you have come to the place where you have nothing but God. Just like a poor person would be seen as having nothing of their own, a think a spiritually poor person has nothing left but God. Stuff like pride, stubbornness, and even physical items mean nothing because you got God; and that is enough
ReplyDeleteI think to be poor in spirit means we let go of everthing that we own and all we have left with is God's love and mercy.
