Why is the World the Way it is?

I typically like watching the news because I feel it is important to know what is happening in California, the Nation, and the World. Most people don't like watching the news for one reason: there are a lot of depressing stories. Headlines like "Libya in Crisis" or "School Shooting Kills 7" or "Suicide Bomber Kills 35, Injures 40". No wonder people are depressed. Some might ask why is the world like this? Why would a loving God let this happen?There has to be a reason for this.
There is a song I am listening to called "The Reason for the World" by Matthew West, and the chorus goes like this:

Maybe the reason for the pain, is so that we can pray for strength
And maybe the reason for the strength, is so that we won't loose hope
And maybe the reason for our hope, is so that we could face the world
And the reason for the world, is to make us long for home

Good song, I recommend it. Whenever I feel like my world, or the world around me is in chaos, I think to myself the reason stuff can be bad is to direct my attention to God and long for the day He takes me home. So when you feel the world caving in around you, pray and look up to heaven and remember the reason for the world is so that we long for our home in heaven :)
